William L. Sutton, 92, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, Aug. 24,
2018 of natural causes. He passed peacefully in his sleep.
Mr. Sutton was born, Jan. 15, 1926 in Kansas City, Missouri. He married the love of his life, Dolliemae Wright, on Jan. 15, 1949, and together they raised three daughters.
William Sutton worked at Stephenson/Yost Steel (Lapham-Hickey Steel) until his retirement at age 65. He was extremely active in the Odd Fellows Lodge of Missouri, serving as both a Grand Master for the state of Missouri and State Treasurer. While he never graduated high school, electricity Excelsior , electricity, plumbing and many other areas. Mr. Sutton was a master handyman and remodeler long before it was fashionable.
It was said of him by one of his nephews, “He was a beautiful, peaceful man who is now at peace.”
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Karen Kennedy of Hollywood, Florida.
William Sutton is survived by his wife, Dolliemae E. Sutton; his daughters: Linda Hommer, Raniece Sutton-Gamache and Elizabeth Reardon; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Visitation will be held from 2-2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Excelsior Springs Excelsior , at the Lillian McDavid Independent Living Center Dining Hall, 1706 Rainbow Blvd., Excelsior Springs, MO 64062, with memorial service following.
