Weekend collision leads to arrest of Excelsior man
Missouri State Highway Patrol reported two collisions involving Excelsior Springs residents over the weekend.
On Saturday, Aug. 25, Clay County deputies assisted MSHP with a two-vehicle collision on southbound U.S. Highway 69, north of Rhodes Road in Clay County at 8:14 a.m.
According to preliminary MSHP Online Traffic Crash Reports, as Michael C. Jacobson, 61, of Excelsior Springs, traveled in the closed construction lane, he changed lanes into the open lane, striking the rear of the second vehicle, a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, driven by Alexis K. Bryson, 18, of Excelsior Springs.

Officials arrested Jacobson at the scene. Later, officials released Jacobson into the care of Liberty Hospital for treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. Officials accuse Jacobson of three charges: driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash and no proof of insurance. The charges will be sent to the prosecuting attorney’s office to determine credibility.
Cpl. M. J. Yoder investigated the collision, assisted by Clay County deputies.
A second chain-reaction collision occurred Sunday, Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 69, south of Stockdale Road.
Cpl. B. E. Thoman of MSHP investigated the three-vehicle collision Excelsior , in which a Wood Heights resident sustained minor injuries.
The collision occurred as a 2008 Ford Taurus, driven by Kimberly A. Tapia, 39, of Wood Heights, struck the rear of the second vehicle, driven by Trinity J. Kirkham, 25, of Rayville, which then struck the rear of a third vehicle driven by Michael D. Willadsen, 33, of Liberty.
According to reports, Tapia sustained minor injuries in the collision. Medical officials transported her to Liberty Hospital by Kearney EMS for treatment. Excelsior
