Neighbourhoods have street lights & roads, but no piped water supply or proper drains
On the outside, areas such as Hinoo, Doranda, Hatia and Tupudana, all under wards 51 to 55, look perfect with proper roads and functional LED streetlights, something which most localities in the state capital lack.

But don't get fooled by the cosmetic looks as drains rem-ain choked and people are still forced to depend on community wells.
Dhananjay Oraon, a resident of Lower Hatia in ward 55, said most drains in his locality remain clogged round the year.
"One should develop drains before constructing a road. But in my locality, it's just the reverse. Similar is the condition of water supply. We still have to depend on community wells and tube wells for our water needs although a pipeline had been laid," Oraon, a decorator, said. He added that although LED streetlights have been installed, there is a lot of gap between two poles.

" said ward 55 councillor Dharmu Linda. Ghashi , because of limited funds and time, I could not accomplish a lot of work," said ward 55 councillor Dharmu Linda.
Sanjeev Jha, a resident of Kunwar Singh Colony in ward 52, said he had hardly seen in development in his locality.
"During the last five years, I did not see any development in my locality. It is difficult to meet the councillor for any work.We expected her to beautify a pond for a religious purpose, which was not done. People in the locality suffer from mosquito-borne diseases because of clogged drains. Water supply is also poor. We depend on own borewells," Jha, who runs a magazine shop , said.
"I paid more attention to improve the condition of slums," ward 52 councillor Pushpa Tirkey said.
Manohar Mahto, a resident of Ghasi Mohalla in ward 53, said funds allotted for drains were too little. "Funds crunch prevented drain construction," Mahto said.
"It is difficult to construct drains based on the demands of people. However, I will try to solve drainage and water problems if voted to power," ward 53 councillor Basudeo Toppo said.
Sukanto Das, a resident of Letenga Toli in ward 54 said, "It's a fact that drains have not been built but the councillor's effort cannot be ignored," Das, who has a stationery store, said.
"I paid attention for the development of all localities in my ward. I hope I will be able to meet all the demands of people if I am elected again, said ward 54 councillor ."

Ghashi , Hatia railway station, National Institute of Forge and Foundry Technology (NIFFT) and Tupudana Industrial Area along Ranchi-Khunti Road proves that most localities have overflowing drains that emanate 24/7 stench.
