ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Each year a handful of students enroll online at Excelsior College, but with a most recent lawsuit, many students are now looking for answers.
Meaghan Raynor was enrolled in Excelsior's online nursing program. Like others, she enrolled to better her career. After investing thousands in a program, she says since it is nearly impossible to pass, she decided to join a class action lawsuit against the school.
"Emails that I have saved over time, everything that they have said to me has been a lie and it just needs to stop,” Raynor said.

Raynor began taking her online nursing classes in 2015. After completing them, she says it took her over a year to get a final exam date. Apparently, Raynor isn’t the only one with a similar story. According to court documents, more than 10,000 students are enrolled in the nursing program with promise of a timely graduation. But their average pass rate has been below 47 percent for the past five years.
“Don’t enroll! Go to a traditional college and figure out if you truly want this goal. Do not go here!"

Following the lawsuit, the college issued this statement calling the claims “baseless accusations,” and are defending their nursing program.
