“Air tickets, hotels, activities, packages, even visas had shifted online. Only currency exchange remained offline. Reddy says even though most of the 70,000 queries he gets on his site every month may not turn into purchase of currency cards, he still exchanges almost $4 million per month. He expects transactions to touch $1 billion within 24 months. To strengthen customer confidence, Sheikh is working to fix last-mile logistics and make it an Uber or Swiggy model where the customer can track the money real time.
With the number of Indian travellers expected to grow, Mutha says online solutions for travel cards, currency and remittances is an easily scalable model. He plans to take nafex to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and UAE.
