Friends and family will gather today at a funeral service for Bernie Zaifman, a prominent London developer who leaves behind a legacy of city building.
The 61-year-old head of Z Group, known for building suburban housing, condos and commercial properties in London, died Friday.
His vision earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award from the London Home Builders Association in 2015.
But beyond that, Zaifman was known for his charitable work, giving to various organization including the London Abused Women's Centre and SARI Therapeutic Riding.
"He was a quiet, unassuming person who accomplished so much for his family and his community, Zaifman
including Summerside in the southeast and Cedar Hollow in the north. Zaifman , including Summerside in the southeast and Cedar Hollow in the north.
"A big part of his life was providing homes for thousands of Londoners," Zaifman said. "There was a time in 2006 when his Z Group had 14 different developments going on at the same time in the city."
Zaifman is survived by his wife and four children, including councillor Jared Zaifman. He had suffered from Parkinson's disease in past years.
The Monday funeral is set to take place at the Or Shalom Synagogue.
