The attendant on the Space ride attraction became concerned about the 25-year-old's behaviour, and halted the ride.

The court heard the security barriers on the seats were lowered and the ride began, and at that point Timofte touched the girl on the hand and on the shoulder.
The prosecutor said the ride attendant saw what was happening and signalled for the ride to the stopped.
Miss George said that as the riders alighted from the ride Timofte walked towards the girl but the attendant stood between them and blocked his way.
Security guards were summoned, and after a search of the Winterland site Timofte was detained - police were called, and he was arrested.

Speaking through a Romanian interpreter, Timofte said he was sorry for what happened at the Winterland attraction, adding: "I came here to make friends and work and make a life, not to cause problems."

Jo Steadman, for the Probation Service, said she was concerned that given the nature and circumstances of the assault on the young girl, the authorities did not seem to have carried out any checks on whether the defendant had convictions on his record in his homeland.
She said the defendant had told her in interview that he thought the girl had been older than she actually was, and that he had approached her to ask her if she wanted to go on another ride with him.
John Burge, chairman of the bench, told Timofte his behaviour towards his 14-year-old victim had been unacceptable, and raised a number of concerns.
The defendant was fined £130 and given a 12 month community order with a rehabilitation requirement. He was also ordered to pay his victim £50 compensation, and pay £85 towards prosecution costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
