Seattle cryptoexchange Bittrex is adding Ripple (XRP) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) trading pairs to its lists. Eth Market Bittrex
It brings the total number of cryptocurrency trading pairs available on Bittrex to six, following May’s effort to bring in US Dollar pairs for Bitcoin (BTC), Tether (USDT), TrueUSD (TUSD) and Ethereum (ETH).
Bittrex users can request their account be added to USD markets
. Currently, both corporate and retail investors have to complete a request form to add USD trading.
the platform said it favoured a “phased approach” to adding new trading pairs which would allow it to “stress test” their systems, adding: “As we continue expanding fiat markets to the top tokens on Bittrex, we’re not only offering customers a streamlined experience to purchase digital coins directly with US dollars, but we’ll also be offering customers USD trading pairs that may only be found on our platform.”
Only personal or corporate cusomers outside North America, or in the eligible US states of California, New York, New Mexico, Arizona and Washington can add USD trading on Bittrex at this time.
The move will add more legitimacy to Ripple’s XRP. XRP/USD fell as low as $0.25 in last week’s
and traders are pushing hard to regain the previous stable support point around $0.33.
In announcing the introduction of US Dollar trading this spring, Bittrex CEO Bill Shihara said: “As an incubator and leading advocate of blockchain technology, Bittrex is committed to listing tokens that not only have the best business applications, but are also the most innovative blockchain projects in the world.”
As Ripple (the company) continues the battle to integrate its payments tech with the world’s major banks Eth Market Bittrex , it must be heartening to hear that XRP is considered one of blockchain’s “best applications”.
Shihara continued: “Expanding fiat markets to the top digital currencies on our exchange should further drive adoption…by providing customers [more] options for purchasing and trading digital currencies in an environment with high liquidity.”
Ethereum Classic is the original chain which remained when the hard fork of Ethereum (ETH) took effect in 2016.
As of August 21st, ETC is trading at around the $12.50 mark, compared to ETH’s $280. In terms of 24 hour trading volume, around 10 times less Ethereum Classic changes hands every day than its more popular successor.
