Surat: The state CID crime submitted a 1,047 pages chargesheet in the Rs 155 crore

extortion and kidnapping case against five accused in local court here on Saturday. Out of 13 accused, five have been arrested and eight are yet to be arrested, including the alleged kingpin Shailesh Bhatt.

CID has already arrested Nikunj Bhatt, Dilip Kanani, Jignesh Moradiya, Manoj Kyada and Umesh Goswami. Those named in the chargesheet and are yet to be arrested include Bhatt, Kirit Wala, Hitesh, J K Rajput, Himmat, Raju Patel, Kirit Paladiya and Jignesh Kheni.

Paladiya was arrested by CID in another case but he is yet to be arrested the Bitcoin case while Kheni is under treatment.

In the charge-sheet police provided statements of 55 panch and 66 witnesses.

The Rs 155 crore Bitcoin extortion and kidnapping case was registered by CID crime in Surat on May 20.

Earlier, CID had registered a complaint in April alleging that Bhatt was being kidnapped to extort Bitcoins from him. In the complaint, former Amreli SP Jagdish Patel and crime branch PI Anant Patel were arrested. While investigating, source of Bitcoins with Bhatt, police came to know that Bhatt had extorted the Bitcoins with help of other associates.

So far police investigation has revealed that the accused first kidnapped Savaliya, an employee of Bitconnect which floated the Bitcoins. Savaliya was kidnapped on January 30 from Varachha and kept in confinement for three days.

They collected details about Mavani and kidnapped him too on February 1 to extort Bitcoins from him. The accused extorted Bitcoins and cash total worth Rs 155 crore. Total 2,256 Bitcoins and 11,000 lite-coins were extorted from the victims. Police have so far recovered 169 Bitcoins, Rs 23.96 crore and eight kilogram gold worth Rs 2.50 crore from the accused.
