:Bacanora Lithium Plc engages in the acquisition, exploration, and development of mineral properties.The company’s loss has recently broadened since it announced a -CA$18.85m loss in the full financial year, compared to the latest trailing-twelve-month loss of -CA$21.52m, moving it further away from breakeven.Many investors are wondering the rate at which BCN will turn a profit, with the big question being “when will the company breakeven?”Below I will provide a high-level summary of the industry analysts’ expectations for BCN.
Expectation from Metals and Mining analysts is BCN is on the verge of breakeven.They expect the company to post a final loss in 2019, before turning a profit of CA$12.96m in 2020.So, BCN is predicted to breakeven approximatelya few months from now.What rate will BCN have to grow year-on-year in order to breakeven on this date? Using a line of best fit, I calculated an average annual growth rate of 108.30%,whichis rather optimistic! If this rate turns out to be too aggressive, BCN may become profitable much later than analysts predict.
Underlying developments driving BCN’s growth isn’t the focus of this broad overview,however,keep in mindthatby and largemetals and mining companies, depending on the stage of operation and metals mined, have irregular periods of cash flow.This means, large upcoming growth rates are not abnormal as the company is beginning to reap the benefits of earlier investments.
Before I wrap up, there’s one aspect worth mentioning. BCN currently has no debt on its balance sheet,which is rare for a loss-makingmetals and mining company,which usually has a high level of debt relative to its equity.BCN currently operates purely off its shareholder funding and has no debt obligation, reducing concerns around repayments and making it a less risky investment.
