If you’re looking to store your first Bitcoins and you own an Android mobile device this post is for you. However, before I review the best Android Bitcoin wallets out there I just want to give you a word of warning.
Mobile wallets (Android, or iOS) are the least secure form of Bitcoin wallets. This is mainly due to the fact that mobile devices tend to get stolen, lost and break down. If you hold your Bitcoins in a mobile wallet, it means that the private key is stored on the device, and therefor if the device is ruined or stolen you can’t access your coins.
Having said that, you can always create a backup for your wallet by using the 12-24 word seed phrase shown to you when you first install the wallet. That’s why it’s important to keep this seed phrase in a safe place and out of anyone else’s reach but your own.

Agree with Scott above… Coinomi is pretty cool and probably deserves a lot more attention. I looking at the 99BTC reviews and Exodus it rated 9 and Trezor 8.9? WTF? Exodus reuses addresses, isn’t HD, and isn’t open source! I noticed it only gives the user one address when I planned on storing my Decred on it and I did a bit of digging. Yeah, research this shit *before* sending money to it… I know! I think maybe Exodus it has multiple addresses for Bitcoin. It is certainly a nice looking wallet, and Shapeshift txns seem to go more smoothly
The best Android wallet is actually Coinomi. It supports most of the major coins (BTC, LTC, ETH, ETC, DASH) and a host of smaller coins. Has coin exchange built in using ShapeShift as the service provider. Shows details of transactions. Allows labeling addresses and many more features not found on other wallets.
